- Equipment needed for explorer Pack meetings.
- Training
Do you get paid?
No, all members of the Scout Association are volunteers.
Can girls join the Explorers?
Yes, all sections of Scouts are open to boys and girls. We have both boys and girls in the Stithians Explorer Unit.
So are you in competiton with Guides?
No, girls who join the Explorers would probably not be attracted to the kind of programme run by the Guides and vice versa. Some may wish to join both organisations.
Child safety
The Scout Association has strict child safety rules in place.
All adult members of the Stithians Scout Group, including leaders, assistant leaders, chair, treasurer and secretary, have extended CRB checks carried out before they are allowed to join us.
Leaders are also interviewed by the Truro District Scout Association before they can begin training for their warrant.
In order to run a meeting, at least two members of Stithians Scout Group must be present, at least one of them must hold a warrant from the Scout Association.
In practice we like to have a minimum of three and preferrably four adult members present.
No adult is ever allowed to be on their own with an Explorer or group of Explorers.
Our own fully stocked first aid kit is always available, we have several leaders/assistant leaders who hold first aid certificates, one of them is always present. If we take the Explorers out of the hall our first aid kit goes too.
When we take the Explorers outside we make sure that we have at least one adult per six explorers, plus one extra adult.
